Rio 2016 – Opening Ceremony (RTÉ Two and BBC One, 11.30pm)

It’s finally here! Two weeks of sporting madness kicks off tonight with an epic opening ceremony in Rio kicking off at 11.30pm. Come for the spectacle, stay for the fun of watching the Parade of Nations and cheering on Ireland!

Django Unchained (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)

If the Olympics isn’t your thing, you’re in for a treat as RTÉ One are showing Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-winning Django Unchained.

28 Days (RTÉ Two, 9.30pm)

Comedy/drama starring the always wonderful Sandra Bullock as a journalist who goes into rehab for alcoholism.

Everyone’s talking about… Star Wars

Good news, Star Wars nerds — there might be a Star Wars television series in the works!

Entertainment Weekly reports that ABC is in talks to create a television series based on the franchise. Entertainment president Channing Dungey had this to say:

The conversations with Lucas, we have had conversations with them and will continue to have conversations with them. I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming.

*squeals*
